![]() While the battery recharges i mow the rest of the yard. I recharge my single battery between doing the main yard and the area around the trees, which takes about 1-1/2 hours. I have a second area that is 175 ft by 15 ft around a group of trees that must be done separately but even it is done on a single charge and it takes two passes to complete. It takes me 1-1/2 hours to complete all of it and i do it on a single charge. ![]() I have 1/2 acre with fences, raised beds, garden, driveway and roadway and I dge every week. I have heard complaints about how long the batteries last on a single charge but i have not seen the problem. Since moving to the Ryobi 40V system, i have not had to repair the drive system a single time. I was sick of spending money on gasoline powered yard care tools for edging, trimming and hedge trimming that constantly broke down. I have converted to using all Ryobi battery driven products around my home for garden, yard care, and power tools. If I would’ve known the price would jump up due to circumstances beyond anyone's control I would’ve just bought a gas powered trimmer instead because the the cost of the battery is just as much. It could be because of the lack lithium but I don’t know. When I first bought this battery in the middle of 2019 it only cost $99. The only thing I don’t like about this batter is the price. With rechargeable Lithium Ion batteries as you have to charge it initially for 24 hrs and use it until it completely discharges so that it’s able to recharge and give you optimal battery life. But as I mentioned before when you increase the speed of the tool you’re decreasing the time of how much power the battery is able to provide. ![]() In this 40v battery you should be able to have 4amps last about an hour before it discharges. Although it may be rated for 4 amp hours remember this is just a unit of measurement. ![]() I was able to use the trimmer for about 35 mins before it depleted. Trimming my back and front yard on a fully charged battery, at times using more power at different spots in my yard due to how thick weeds are, decreased my battery power. If you’re constantly holding the trigger all the way for an extended period of time it will drain the battery quicker. This battery will last long if you’re conservative on pulling the trigger on the trimmer or depending on what attachment you use how much power you’re using. ![]()
